>> The state that I was describing is however not a telepathic one
as such, though telepathy maybe an event that occurs in this state. The
state is actually a very connected physical reality.<<
I may or may not be talking about the same thing, or it may be the difference
between what you seek, and what others of us choose to seek.
But there is a 'feeling' rather than a 'thinking' connection which is spiritual and
emotional, that goes beyond the physical - for the mind has no power to 'transmit'
outside of the body, telepathy does not exist.
I have seen many 'proofs' or purely spiritual reality, but that does not really
matter for the skeptics among us. We are human; we are body, soul and spirit, and
the soul consists of mind, will and emotion. The energy that can 'leap' information
from one to another without the physical is solely spiritual, but when we ride a
horse there is body touching body, when we work with a horse on the ground there is
body seeing body, and our attitudes and intents are transmitted through our bodies
whenever we are alive and active! They can't not be - it is impossible to
disconnect them.
What I seek is a maximum connection on ALL these levels simultaneously - they can
all be elusive for different reasons, we can have a difficulty controlling any
or all of them for different reasons. Some may feel as 'at home' with physical
refinement as I feel with spiritual.
But, I do find that there is something present in the addition of a deep spiritual
connection to a horse that surpasses all the other experiences alone, in just the
same way that it may be a less than optimal experience if you are deeply in tune
spiritually, but maybe unable to control your physical balance.
Total balance and total connection of all 'systems' is what I seek, none should be
echewed or reduced to my mind, because total unity is the goal for me.
Just a thought, you might just not tie the horse but have him stand. We very
seldom use halters around this barn but ask the horses to be with us and
stand quietly. Even our shoer doesn't tie the horses for trims, but drops the
rope in front of them and tells them to stand. If you get into the habit of
controlling the mind you will not need equipment and they start doing things
because you asked and not that they were made to. The best thing about this
is I can decide to do something like clipping and go out to the turnout and
have the horses gather and take turns being trimmed without having to get
everyone's halter as I have poas, minis , thorobreds, and Friesians out
together. Be confident the horse will say yes and 99% of the time they will.
The most exciting part of NH for me involves the concept
that each horse is a unique individual, with its own personality,
set of experiences--past and present--intelligence and spirit.
I treasure the opportunity to discover each horse whose
path I cross, the ups and downs.
I try to treat every animal as an intelligent, sensient being and
I really appreciate the centeredness of NH work and that the
horse is not enslaved, broken or forced to hide its spirit
within itself from the pain dealt by the human. It can venture
to share itself with us, to teach us about how its world
really is.
I seek a give-and-take, an energy flow, a feeling between
us (or among us, if more than two), a cooperative effort.
And when my presence is sought, I accept that as a gift
and a compliment.
All species have language. All species have life. We can
niggle and argue the interpretations. NH is a method of
translating horse for humans who seek a different path,
not necessarily the easy one. Not a quick fix. There really
aren't thirty minute wonders, though amazing things can
happen in such a short time.
The feel isn't rushed, though. It comes with time, from
consistent handling and training, with good timing and feel.
It's a two way thing. And when it works out right, it's heaven on earth.
Or as close as we poor humans can get, for me.
